FAYETTE Funeral services. for
Mrs. Bessie Smitherman, 50, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the
Liberty Free Will Baptist Church, in the Crossville Community with the
Rev. Collier officiating. Veazey's Mortuary directed burial in the
church cemetery.
Mrs. Smitherman passed away Thursday night in the University Hospital in Birmingham following a heart operation.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Price, she was a native of Fayette County. She retired a year ago from bad health after working eight years at the Fayette Garment Plant.
She was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church and the widow of the late Mr. A. A. Smitherman who died on Dec. 20, 1961.
Survivors includes two daughters, Mrs. Fred Bailey of Tuscaloosa and Mrs. Maurice South of Fayette; seven brothers, Daulton Price, Choyce Price, John H. Price, Hubert Price, all of Fayette; Banks Price of Guin and Troy Price of Birmingham; a sister, Mrs. Elzie Kimbrell of Jasper, and four grandchildren.
