MANTECA, Oct. 12- Private
funeral services were conducted this afternoon in the P. L. Fry &
Son Mortuary chapel for Mrs. Calista May Smitherman, 78, who died
Saturday night following a lengthy illness.
For the past six years, Mrs. Smitherman had made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Marylouise Ridley, 616 E. North Street.
The Rev. J. W. Platt of the Brethern Church officiated at the services. Interment was in Park View Cemetery.
Besides her daughter, Mrs. Smitherman is survived by a grandson, Jean Ridley, a former College of the Pacific grid star; one great-grandchild; and a brother, Jean W. Hard of Los Gatos.
A native of Iowa, Mrs. Smitherman resided in California for 50 years, 20 in Stockton. She was a member of the Los Gatos chapter of the Order of Eastern Star.
