born March 29, 1948, in Pea Ridge, Alabama, passed away on May 26,
2026, at his home in Chelsea, Alabama, surrounded by his loving family.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Zelda Smitherman Rowe; father, J.D. Smitherman; brothers, Ronald Smitherman and Douglas Smitherman; sister-in-law, Marilyse Smitherman.
He is survived by his loving wife, Faye Smitherman; son, Jeff Smitherman; daughter, Jennifer McDaniel; stepchildren, Doug (Sherry) Plan and Christi (Paul) Martin; grandchildren, Travis and Libby McDaniel; Jordan and Jessie Plan; Brodie, Beau, and Drew Martin; sister-in-law, Brenda Smitherman; numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to honor David's life will be held in Helena at Grace Christian Church; 869 County Road 52, on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
