MIDWEST - Dewel Smitherman, a long time resident of Midwest, died in a hospital in Tulsa, Okla., Aug. 14. of cancer.
Smitherman had undergone surgery for lung and brain cancer on June 6, and had been in a coma until the time of his death.
He was employed by Pan American Petroleum Corp. in its Tulsa area after being transferred there several years ago from the Casper-Midwest area.
Survivors include his wife of the family home in Tulsa, and she was the former Edith Brant, who grew up in Midwest and attended school here. Also surviving at the family home are two sons, five and 11 years old and a daughter 13.
Also surviving are two grown daughters by a previous marriage and Smitherman's mother of Drumright, Okla. Funeral services were held last week in a Methodist Church in Tulsa, and interment was at Drumright, Okla.
