Smitherman Woodard, known as Erlean to her friends and Gan to her
family, went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 20, 2009 at the
age of 89. Funeral services for Mrs. Erlean Woodard will be held
Sunday, August 23, 2009 at 3:00PM in the Bailey Mortuary Chapel in
Springhill, LA. Officiating will be Bro. Tim Everett of Central Baptist
Church in Springhill and Bro. Richard Kaufman of First Baptist Church
in Marthaville, LA. Burial will follow at the Springhill Cemetery under
the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Springhill, LA. The family will
receive friends at Bailey Mortuary Chapel on Saturday, August 22, 2009
from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Florence Erlean Smitherman Woodard was born February 10, 1920 in Jonesboro, LA. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Floyd Woodard and her daughter, Ann Woodard Howell. Mrs. Woodard was a retired school cafeteria employee at Browning Elementary in Springhill. Gan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Tommy Woodard and wife, Pam of Bossier City, LA; grandchildren, Missy Howell Chase and husband, Bryan of Benton, LA, Jody Woodard and wife, Carrie of Marthaville, LA, Craig Howell of Shreveport, LA and T.J. Woodard and wife, Aimee of Baton Rouge, LA; great grandchildren, twins, Cade and Cody Woodard, Caitlyn and Makenzie Chase and Crimson Howell; sister, Lois Price and husband, Jim, of Bend, Oregon; sisters-in-law, Syble Woodard of Springhill, Christine Bogan and husband, Peyton of Shreveport, LA and Pauline Crisp of Dixie Inn, LA.
Pallbearers will be Gan's grandsons, great grandsons and friends, Billy Evans and Johnny Ray McEachern.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Bro. James and Tawnya Taylor, the staff at Colonial Oaks Nursing Home in Bossier City and Agape Hospice Care in Shreveport, LA for their care and support with Gan.
