Funeral services for Mrs. E. L.
Smitherman were held November 28 from the First Baptist Church in
Rhome, conducted by Rev. J. C. Buckhanon, pastor. Interment was in
Aurora Cemetery west of Rhome.
Pallbearers were L. D. Criswell, Jess Carpenter, J. T. Livengood, Martin Simmons, Andy Anderson and J. T. Richardson, all of Rhome.
Mrs. Smitherman died Tuesday in Wichita Falls following a lengthy illness. She had been residing at Colonial Manor Nursing Home since last August. She was 66 years of age.
She is survived by a daughter. Mrs. Lorene Bost of San Diego, Calif.; and a son, LeRoy Smitherman of Houston; two granddaughters, and one great-granddaughter; three brothers and three sisters, O. B. Hutchison of Austin, C. P. Hutchison of Graham, M. B. Hutchison of Sherman, Mrs. Met Clark of Hobbs, New Mexico, Mrs. Ruth Ham of Wichita Falls and Mrs. Etta Mae Barker of Cleburne.
Mrs. Smitherman was born Miss Frankie Myrtle Hutchison, daughter of R. D. and Elizabeth Bailey Hutchison, at Clarksville on November 23, 1896. The family moved from Clarksville to Young County when the deceased was a small girl. A few years later they moved. to Rhome where she met and married E. L. Smitherman in 1922. Two children were born to this union. Mr. Smitherman preceded her in death in 1953. She maintained her home in Rhome until last August.
