ABERDEEN, Jan. 31.-Sixty-four
descendants are mourning the death of John A. Smitherman, 83, who died
at his home near Prairie sunday morning following an illness of two
days. Mr. Smitherman was a retired farmer of the county.
Those surviving the deceased are: four sons, W. A., of Shannon; J. M., of Caledonia; J. M. and F. L. of Prairie; one daughter, Mrs. E. E. Stewart of Alabama; 2 grand- children; and 30 grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. G. H. Griffin at the An- tioch church near Beaverton, Ala., Monday afternoon with interment following in the church cemetery.
