JOHNSON CITY - Joseph Madison Smitherman, 74, of Henly, died Sunday morning in a Johnson City hospital after a short illness.
He was a longtime rancher in the area and was a deacon of Henly Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Hazel Smitherman of Henly; one son, Joe Wayne Smitherman of Blanco; one daughter, Mrs. Ben Gravenor of Henly; one sister, Mrs. Anniemae Harbeson of Austin; and five grandchildren.
Funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Crofts Funeral Home, Rev. Lloyd Gentry officiating. Burial will be in Phillips Cemetery in Dripping Springs.
