lenna bell (doss) smitherman
On July 14, 1931 the death angel
came to claim Mrs. Stanley Smitherman as its own. She had been ill for
some time, but because of untiring efforts to help others and her
desire of faithfulness to her husband and home, she refused to give up.
However, according to the doctor's advice she was carried to the
Baptist Hospital in Birmingham on Friday, July 10th, and after an
unsuccessful op- eration died there on July 14.
She was born in Hagler on September 24, 1906. Her life was always that of unselfishness and and kindness for all, making all who knew her better fitted for His work.
She was a member of the Wesley Methodist Church of Brent and was a faithful member until the last.
Funeral services were conducted at the Tabernacle in Brent by Bro. Napp Frederick, after which she was carried to Liberty and laid to rest by her sisters who preceded her to the grave.
She is survived by a husband, Stanley Smitherman; a mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Doss; one sister, Mrs. David Price; three brothers, Cannon, Ives and Webster Doss, all residing in Four Points; one niece, Bobby Doss; and one nephew, L. W. Price.
