EAST BEND- Mrs. Lillian Smitherman Phillips, 81, Rt. 2, died at 2:55 p.m. Monday at Forsyth Memorial Hospital in Winston-Salem.
She was born in Yadkin County to Wesley H. and Sallie Phillips Smitherman and was a member of Baltimore United Methodist Church. Mrs. Phillips was married to A. Vance Phillips, Sr., who died January 10, 1965.
A daughter, Teresa Gale Faulkes, preceded her mother in death, March 30, 1978.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Nell P. Hauser, Rt. 2; four sons, Astor Vance, Jr., Thomas J., Thurmond D. and Edward W. Phillips, all of Rt. 2; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Ada Norwich, Rt. 2 and a brother, Thomas S. Smitherman, Rt. 2.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mackie-Gentry Fu- neral Chapel by the Rev. Warren Hawks. Burial will follow in Balti- more United Methodist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
