Patricia Joy Smitherman, 55, of
2739 64th St. died of a heart ailment Tuesday at Mercy Hospital Medical
Center. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Westover Funeral Home,
and burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Chester Cemetery in Union.
Mrs. Smitherman was born in Eldora and lived in Des Moines for 25
years, coming from the Waterloo area. She had been a homemaker.
Surviving are her husband, David; three daughters, Teresa Boatwright of Seattle, Linda Livingston of Des Moines and Kimberly Dougherty of Escondido, Calif.; three sisters, Kath-ryn Meins of Sacramento, Joan Cross of Marshalltown and Betty Hazen of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; a brother, Robert Seitz of Yucca Valley, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association Iowa Chapter.
