GA – Robert Eugene Smitherman, Jr., 54, entered into rest at Piedmont
Hospital on Saturday, December 14, 2025, with his family at his side.A celebration of Mr. Smitherman's life is being planned and will be announced following the holidays.
Born on January 3, 1971, in Augusta, and a lifelong resident of the area, Robert was the son of the late Robert and Faye Rollins Smitherman, Sr.
He had worked as a courier for a local auto parts distributor and was a member of Silvercrest Baptist Church where he was active in his Sunday School Class.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gene Smitherman and Eva James Smitherman Ayers; as well as his great grandparents, Henry Grady and Georgia Chavous James, Sr.
Mr. Smitherman is survived by his siblings, his brother, Grady Smitherman, and his sister Robin Reed; his best friend, Bobby Kerr; as well as a special cousin, Annette James.
