Mrs. Ruby Hand Smitherman, age
46, died at the home, Clanton Rte 5, Friday, July 22nd. Services were
held at Macedonia, Beat 11, Sunday morning at 11 o'clock, conducted by
Rev.. Thompson and Rev. Grady Cleckler; Martin directing.
Pallbearers were: James Smitherman, Jerry Bonnett, Eugene Cleckler, Obie Moatts, Jr., James L. Dennis, Harvey Littleton. Flower ladies Alice Mae, Lemerle and Everine Smitherman, Frances Fuller, Flora Taylor, Mavis and Joan Robinson, Lois Taylor, Lorene and Florenaive Cooedy.
The husband, Elijah Smitherman, survives; six daughters-Mrs. Velma Moatts, Mrs. Mary Nell Burnette, Mrs. Pauline Dennie, Mrs. Mildred Smitherman, Mrs. Betty Gene Smitherman, Mrs. Frances Marie Smitherman, all of Rte 5; four sons-Dovard, Lloyd, Calvin and Bobby Joe Smitherman, all of Route 5; eight sisters Mrs. Alvia Smitherman, Mrs. Mamie Littleton, Mrs. Emma Blowe, Mrs. Evie Smitherman, Mrs. Dixie Lockhart, Mrs. Epsie Mims, Mrs. Lottie Boatfield, Mrs. Macie Coker, all of Clanton Rte 5. There are six grand children.

Native of Chilton county, Mrs. Smitherman was a daughter of Ocie Hand and Janie Johnson Hand.
