DE LEON—Funeral services for
Mrs. Travis Maurice Dixon, 90, of De Leon, will be held at 10 a.m.
Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at the De Leon Church of Christ with Jerry
Smithermann officiating. Burial will follow in the Victor Cemetery in
Erath County under the direction of the Nowlin Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dixon died Wednesday, jan. 16 in the De Leon Hospital.
She was born July 1, 1911, in Hansville, La. to the late Nathaniel and Vira Robinson Kendrick. She married David Lee Smitherman who preceded her in death in 1947. She later married Lloyd Dixon in 1951. She was a homemaker and had lived in De Leon since 1992, moving from Stephenville. She was a member of the De Leon Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Roy Smitherman of De Leon and Jerry D. Smitherman of Kismet, Kans.; daughter Ellen Lea of De Leon; seven grandchidlren; and 17 great-grandchidlren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, three sisters; and one grandson, Randy Lee Kea.
