Wendell Howell Smitherman Sr.,
68, of Plantersville, died Saturday, July 27, in a Selma hospital.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 29, at 2 p.m. at
Plantersville Baptist Church with the Reverends Mike Carroll, Berry
Crowe and J.R Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in the
Plantersville Christian Cemetery, with Lawrence Funerah Home directing.
He is survived by his wife, Bettye N. Smitherman of Plantersville, one daughter and son-in-law, Diane S. and Joe Smith of Plantersville, two sons and daughters-in-law, Wendell H. Jr., and Marcia Smitherman of Plantersville, Stephan R. and Sybil Smitherman of Selma, three sisters, Clara Montgomery of Starkville, Miss., Juanita Fuller of Shalimar, Fla., and Dorothy Carroll of Birmingham, one brother, Robert H. Smitherman of Texas, four grandchildren, Scott Smith and Melissa, Ross and Kennedy Smitherman.
Active pallbearers will be Charlie Shoultz, Don Nelson, Gary Picrson, Cherry Nichols, David Wright and Mike Blair.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Wiley Herrod, Sam Hillman, Billy O'Neal, Joe Green, Tom Martin, Sheay Carter, John D. Atcheson, Guy Osburn, Thomas Ed Fischer, Dr. Sam Saliba, Deacons of Plantersville Baptist Church and members of the Senior Men's Sunday School Class of the Plantersville Baptist Church.
