TUSCALOOSA - Wilda Kathleen
Boyd, completed her journey here on earth at the age of 89, and God
welcomed home his beloved daughter on July 4, 2010. Services will be 2
p.m. Thursday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in
Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity
Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to
services at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Leonard Edwards, Lee Parsons and W.B. Boyd; parents, Herbie and Mary Smitherman; sister, Wanda Sue Smitherman; her brothers, Earl, Lee, Jack, Adolph and Nolan Smitherman; and her granddaughter, Susan Broughton.
Wilda, or Wid, as she was more affectionately known by her friends and numerous nieces and nephews, is survived by her daughters, Kay Cook and Carolyn Edwards; her beloved grandson, Joe Mira Cook; her great-grandson, Alan Cook; her great-granddaughter, Anna Clair Broughton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Words are inadequate to express the positive and affectionate effect that her presence had on all who were privileged to know her.
She left behind, in all of us who knew and loved her, an emptiness that can only be lessened by remembering her beautiful smile and innate goodness.
