Mr. Willie Evan Smitherman, of
Winston-Salem, passed away June 9, 1995 at Meadowbrook Terrace in Davie
County following two years of declining health.
He was born August 16, 1914 in the Baltimore Community in Yadkin County to the late Gray and Geneva Cornelius Smitherman.
Mr. Smitherman was a retired building contractor.
He was preceded in death by a daugther, Dorothy Mae Smitherman Trent.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Shermer Smitherman of the home; one grandson, David J. Trent and wife Kelley of Mesa, Ariz.; three granddaughters, Lisa L. Trent of San Francisco, Calif., Julia L. Hibbing and husband Tony of Mesa, Ariz., and Sharon L. Kellogg and husband John of Gilbert, Ariz.; one great-granddaughter, Benthany Mae Trent of Mesa, Ariz.; two sisters, Rachel Hester of Kernersville and Estelle Garrison of East Bend.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Forsyth Memorial Park by Dr. Charles Edwards. The family will receive friends at Vogler's Reynolda Chapel from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, and has requested memorials be made to Alzheimer's Association, 836 Oak St., Tobacco Square, Suite 451, Win- ston-Salem, N.C. 27101-1407.
