Mr. Sherard J. "Bootsie"
Smitherman- A native and life-long resident of Mobile, died at the
family residence on Sunday, September 15, 2002.
Mr. Smitherman retired from the United States Marine Corp. and was employed by the City of Mobile. He was a member of a Mystic Society and ACMR Train Club.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Evans Smitherman, Mobile; four daughters, Lauren Smitherman, Whitney Smitherman, Jessica Smitherman, and Lyndon Jernigan, all of Mobile; two sons, Thomas Smitherman, California and Tony Smitherman, Mobile; one sister, Margaret S. Tunnell, Andalusia, AL; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated from Holy Family Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 18, 2002 at 1:00PM. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 11:00AM- 1:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Home or Wilmer Hall. Interment will be in Palestine Baptist Church Cemetery. Arrangements by RADNEY FUNERAL HOME, 3155 Dauphin St., Mobile, AL..
