Dalt Monroe Smitherman, age 88, of East Bend, Rt. 2 died Saturday at the Green Haven Nursing Center in Greensboro.
He was born in Yadkin Coutnty to Alvis and Betty Nicholson Smitherman. He was a member of Baltimore United Methodist Church and a retired farmer.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Stella Lakey Smitherman; a daughter, Mrs. Betty S. Jones St. Clara Shore, Mich.; four sons, Ray Smitherman, 2339 Clemmonsville Winston-Salem, Dalton L. Smitherman of Santa Rita, Montana, Alvis A. Smitherman, Modesto, Ill. and Tommy D. Smitherman, Charolais Drive, Green- sboro; two brothers, John H. Smitherman, Meadowbrook Drive, Winston-Salem, and Frank B. Smitherman, Rosewood Drive, Winston- Salem; sixteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:30 pm Monday at Baltimore United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. George Dalton, Rev. Bill Harris and Rev. Oscar Merritt. Burial following in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the service. The family will be at Mackie-Gentry from 7 to 9 pm Sunday evening.
