iva annice (hite) smitherman
Iva A. Smitherman, 95, who had
lived at 259 W. Harrison St., Mooresville, died Thursday at Miller's
Merry Manor in Mooresville, where she had resided for 91⁄2 years. She
had been ill for 15 years.
The daughter of Henry and Martha Yager Hite, she was born at Hall June 17, 1888. In 1908, she married H. Wilson Smitherman, and he died Feb. 27, 1960.
Survivors include a son, Wendell Smitherman of Coatesville R.R. 1; a daughter, Waneta Allison of Mooresville; a brother, Ernest Hite of Centerton; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A lifelong resident of Morgan County, Mrs. Smitherman was a member of the Mooresville Friends Church, Mooresville Order of Eastern Star and Pythian Sisters.
Her funeral will be Saturday morning at 11 o'clock at Carlisle and Son Funeral Chapel in Mooresville. The Revs. Dan Smetzer and Ric Schultze will officiate, and burial will be in Mooresville Cemetery.
Calling is from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Carlisle's.
