Mrs. Jamie Smitherman
Perkins, 91, of East Bend died Saturday, May 27, 2006. She was born
October 26, 1914, to Tommie Daughton and Emma Mae Beane Smitherman of
East Bend.
Mrs. Perkins was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother
and aunt who made her home a warm and inviting place for family and
friends. She was the first charter member of St. Paul United Methodist
Church in Charlotte, which was formed in her home. She will be
remembered as an accomplished seamstress, for her crocheted pictures of
the Lordճ Supper, and for the numerous Christmas ornaments she made and
shared.
Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Thomas W. (Perk) Perkins; son,
Tommy (Linda) Perkins and daughter Carolyn (Phillip) Graham. She was
the proud grandmother of Jamie (David) McCollum, Lee Perkins, David
(Kristie) Graham, and Jason (Angie) Graham, great-grandmother of
Brittany and Kenton McCollum, Parker and Dawson Graham, Casey and Wyatt
Graham and step-great grandmother of Seth Miller. She is also survived
by a sister, Pauline Oldham and several nieces and nephews. Mrs.
Perkins was preceded in death by were her parents and sisters, Vera
Poindexter, Ruth Hupp and Zena Mae Wall.
The family received friends Tuesday, May 30, 2006, from 10-11 a.m. at
Huff Funeral Home. The funeral service followed at 11 a.m. in the Huff
Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Janet Anderson and the Rev. Jimmy
Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Grove Baptist
Church Cemetery.
