Ruth (smitherman) hupp
EAST BEND - Mrs. Ruth Smitherman Hupp, 81, 3609 Flint Hill Road, died Friday evening at her home.
She was born in Yadkin County on October 18, 1916 to Tommie Doughton (T.D.) and Emma Maye Beane Smitherman. Mrs. Hupp was a lifelong member of East Bend United Methodist Church.
She was married to Philip Joshua (Josh) Hupp on June 23, 1939 who preceded her in death on December 8, 1984.
She was a seamstress and a homemaker.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Anne H. and Jack C. Adams and Sue H. and Charlie Leon Brown, both of East Bend; five grandchildren, Amanda A. (Brad) Ratledge of East Bend, Su- sanne A. (Scott) Grady, of Ra- leigh, Darren Leon Brown of East Bend, Sherry B. (Donald) Nance, of Jonesville, and Cameron Philip Brown of East Bend; two great grandchildren, Tyler Ratledge and Makenzie Brown; four sisters, Vera S. Poindexter of Yadkinville, Jamie S. (Tom) Perkins, Pauline S. Oldham, and Zena S. (Clyde) Wall, all of East Bend.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 P.M. at the Huff Fu- neral Home Chapel in East Bend by the Rev. Dan McClure and the Rev. Andy Lambert. Burial will follow in the East Bend Friends Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Sunday eve- ning at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the East Bend United Methodist Church Memo- rial Fund, in care of Ellen Gent, East Bend, N.C. 27018 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
