LEWISVILLE - Joseph Abner (Jodie)
Smitherman, 79, died at home Sunday morning. He was born in Yadkin Co.,
Aug. 15, 1917 to Rob- ert S. and Nancy Perry Smitherman.
He was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his wife, Rachel D. Smitherman of Lewisville; one son, Kenneth Smitherman of Lewisville; one daughter, Terri (Patrick) Jamison of Winston-Salem.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Huff Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Virginia Herring. Burial will follow in Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11 a.m. at Huff Funeral Home of East Bend. Memorials may be made to Prospect United Methodist Cemetery Fund, c/o Dean Matthews, Rt. 1, East Bend, N.C. 27018.
