East Bend, Dec. 13.-William Leak
Smitherman, 33, native of East Bend, died at his home at Wilson Friday.
He was severely burned last Tuesday when he came in contact with a high
voltage wire and his condition had been critical since. He had been
connected with the city of Wilson for the past 14 years. He was a son
of Bob and Betty Stillman Smitherman.
Surviving are the widow who was Miss Julius Williamson prior to mar- riage; two children; three brothers, Herbert and Gilbert Smitherman of Charlotte and Bob Smitherman of East Bend, Route 2; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Hutchins of East Bend, Route 1: and Mrs. Hester Hackett of Union. Iowa: and four half-brothers, Rufus and Yancy Smitherman of East Bend, Route 1: Foy Smitherman of Union. Iowa and Jobie Smitherman of East Bend.
The funeral will be held Monday morning at 10 o'clock at East Bend Friends Church. Rev. Charles H. Hutchins and Rev. Ellis Norman will conduct the services. Burial will fol- low in the church graveyard.
