BEDFORD, Va. Harold Smitherman,
81, of the Elks National Home in Bedford, formerly of Winston-Salem,
died yesterday at the home. The body is at Voglers Reynolda Chapel Road
pending arrangements.
Mr. Smitherman was born in Yadkin County to Joseph A. and Nancy Fletcher Smitherman. He was a former employe of R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and was a retired employee of J. W. Smitherman Wholesale Co. in Winston-Salem. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and Elks Lodge No. 449 in Winston-Salem,
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Speas Robertson of 800 Gibb Street in Winston-Salem; a son, Robert A. Smitherman and a of Louisville, Ky.; brother, Hobart Smitherman of East Bend, N. C.
