EAST BEND- Mrs. Lucy Lee Ray
Smitherman, 78, Rt. 1, passed away Friday night at Forsyth Memorial
Hospital. She was born in Yadkin County to Miles and Percy Gough Ray.
Mrs. Smitherman was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Betty Jean Myers and Grace Hutchens.
Surviving are her husband, Marshall R. Smitherman of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Billy (Cathy) Myers of East Bend and Mrs. Charles (Libby) Bryant of Boonville, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Union Grove Baptist Church by Rev. Kenny Gooden and Rev. Mike Hill. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the 'church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Huff Funeral Home in East Bend.
