Death came suddenly to Mrs.
Mattie Lee Smitherman, 33, wife of Gordon Henry Smitherman of
Lawley, a few hours after she had been removed from a local hospital to
the home of Marion Wilson, Washington street, Sunday. Mrs. Smitherman,
ill for a week in a hospital here, was removed to the Wilson home
Sunday afternoon and died after a heart attack, at 11:30 Sunday night.
Beside her husband, three children, Joe D., Tennell and Gordon, Mrs. Smitherman is survived by her mother, Mrs. Maggie Milan of Lawley and several sisters and brothers.
The body was sent to Lawley Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock for interment there Tuesday, following funeral services to be held Tuesday afternoon from the Active Gospel Tabernacle, the Rev. Mr. Myars, Methodist minister of Brent, officiat- ing. Funeral arrangements by Bris- lin Brothers.
