sydera smitherman

The death of Miss Sydera Smitherman, 18, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Smitherman, of Randolph which occurred in a Selma hospital at 3 o'clock Monday afternoon brought deep sorrow to all who had known the young woman during her brief lifetime, which was ended tragically by a throat infection which failed to respond to the con- stant ministrations of attending physicians.

Possessed of unusual Irish brunette beauty, the young woman's loveliness of face did not excel her loveliness of character, and her entire lifetime was one of unselfish service which endeared her not only to her family but also to a host of friends who mourn her untimely passing. Many expressions of sympathy have been extended to the family in their bereavement.

Surviving besides the parents are five brothers, Huey and Moody Smitherman, of Randolph; Dan Smitherman, of Jacksonville; Archie Smitherman, of Boothton; and Willie C. Smitherman, of Montevallo; and two sisters, Miss Carrie Smitherman, of Tuscaloosa and Miss Cleo Smitherman, of Randolph.

The body was sent from Jud Breslin's Funeral Home Monday night to Randolph, where services were held at 2 o'clock Tueday afternoon from the family residence. Interment was made in Shady Grove cemetery.
